An amazing number of crabs come up for sale up north, especially in Sweden. It seems an amazing number of them have survived, taking into account that they were rare even when new. I suppose it's a proof of their reliability and strength. Also, being strong and reliable cars, I believe they were loved by their owners who rather put them away in a barn or shed rather than selling or breaking them. At least, everyone I meet who knows the crabs really praise these cars. In fact, many claim it's the best car they ever owned:-) Here are some links to cars for sale. Hope you enjoy them, though they're far away from you. The sad thing is, I want to have them all:-) They are all far from me, too, and it's quite expensive to have a car imported to Norway anyway. However I would really like to have the light green (Porcelain?) one. Would you believe the condition of that interior?! I hope they are saved, some of them have been up for sale for quite a while though. 1000 Swedish kroner is roughly about 100 GBP. Regards, Tommy:-) www.blocket.se/stockholm/BMC1800_MorrisMKII_33463803.htm?ca=5&w=3www.blocket.se/jonkoping/Morris_1800_1969_33020545.htm?ca=5&w=3www.blocket.se/vasterbotten/BMC_1800_Morris__68_33864787.htm?ca=5&w=3

Put number 2 on a ferry and I'll just collect it over here, please Tommy. Interesting that the faults listed are through lack of use - clutches, brakes. If you can keep the cars out of the weather, they do have a good chance of survival as so much of the metal is good thick heavy stuff. Chris.

Funny, if you look at the pictures of the Swedish crabs they all have the BMC rosette grille badge.. I wonder if all Swedish BMC cars were equipped with this badge. I've never seen this badge on a Norwegian one, exept my own:-)
Suppose my grandparents got a badge on a holiday in Sweden:-)
By the way, Swedes reffered to BMC cars in the following way:
Morris 1800 mk 2= BMC 1800 mk2 Morris
MG 1100= BMC 1100 MG
etc.... Those Swedes.... :-)

Probably because they can't afford to drink lots of beer...... The world is a better place because of it. That's just my opinion, you don't have to agree. I'll bet that car has a towbar - the wing mirrors stick way out. A lot of BMC cars had different names in other markets - I think it was called the Windsor and the Monaco in Denmark and there was another daft name for Belgium, which escapes me. The 1100 was variously the Victoria, the Apache and the America in different parts of the world, for instance. It's no real surprise that you'd have your own designations in Norway. Chris.

This is a rather lovely original thing: Seems like Landcrabs were quite popular in Sweden when they were new then?
