G'day folks,
Hello from Tasmania. For my Mk1 Auto I am desperately seeking the 2 steel sealing rings which sit on the output shaft adjacent to the Governor, and which basically seal the line pressure to the Governor.
The outer housing (under the radiator) where the speedo drive exits, slides over these rings and the oil is fed through this housing to the output shaft.
These rings look very much like engine piston rings albeit very small, eg, in metric, approx 25.5 OD; 23.0 mm ID; and approx 2.5 mm (exactly .107") wide.
Their size appears to be bespoke/unique to the fwd 1800 BW35 auto, as the output shaft on the rear wh drive cars with BW35 is larger diameter.
Am hoping some one can suggest a Supplier who sells such sealing rings, even in PTFE would suffice (I think!).
Thankyou,

Hi Locky. I can't claim much knowledge regarding the BW35. I have had a rummage through the parts listing and can't identify what you are looking for. The parts listings are available to view HERE - follow the log-in instructions carefully. Searching by part numbers will very often produce the results which searching by description won't. Chris.

Hi Penguin45, Many thanks for that. Yes, it is 2 of #39 (27H9498) I am looking for. #38 are the circlips which retain the governor. I'll check that website. Very much obliged with you help. Cheers,

Wasn't in the abridged listing, but found it in the fiche.
"37H 7021 - circlip - round axial external x 2". Various change points listed.
27H9498 appears to supercede to 17H 3119, BTW.
Chris.

Sincere "thanks" to you Chris for your help on this subject! I'd have been well and truly up the proverbial creek had you'd not looked into it an suggested D & Kroes (whom I'd never heard of!) to contact! Much appreciated!
I managed to get 2 from Damen & Kroes and they are on their way to Tasmania! I've also managed to (I think) work out some Teflon ones from a GM Transmission but which need cutting down a smidgen to fit. I've ordered a couple and will try them prior to fitting the genuine BMC rings. If successful I'll advise accordingly here.
BTW for those people who have an auto, most parts are still available by simply ordering BW35 items for any BMC vehicle using that tranny. eg, clutch plates, bands, sealing ring kits etc. Pretty sure the Servo's are also identical. It's just items such as these rings and the large diff pinion retaining nut which are different due to the fwd configuration. Gaskets are easy enough to make. The oil pump/convertor oil seal is bespoke to the 1800 though and possibly the pump & convertor; I've not bothered to compare yet.
Cheers,
