Greeting Crabbers from Australia,
Once upon a time I had a hydro mini, so I love the floaty ride.
I'm losing a battle to resist buying a Landcrab, so help me to given in or give up.
I'd love some advice on the Kimberly/Tasman/Austin/Morris2200/Wolseley Six. I found a very nice Auto vehicle and I have two questions. - Manual swapping? I found some completely rusted out M/T vehicles. I noticed the crankshaft has a different part number between A/T and M/T
Is it a transmission swap or engine + transmission swap?
Anyone installed Air Conditioning?

Hello MrMin, welcome along. The 1800 series are obviously far larger cars than the Mini, so feel very "planted" on the road whilst maintaining the magic carpet ride of the hydrolastic suspension. At least, I think so. Above walking pace, the car is light and easy to drive - not unlike a giant Mini and you will keep your fillings in your teeth. Easiest auto to manual swap is the engine and gearbox together. The crank and bottom flange of the block is different between the two. If you have a read of 1800heap's thread OKR in the Resto section you will find that he's fitted air conditioning. Nick is a bit in and out, but may be to fill you in a bit more. Being in England, I just open the windows on our odd hot day. Enjoy the forum, ask anything. Chris.

Hi Mrmin
Welcome to the forum.
Chris is correct, I am in and out a bit as there are lots of things that soak up my time. I sadly don't get on here much at present.
Unfortunately I have not fitted aircon but am in the process of fitting it. This means I have not solved all the problems associated with it yet, sadly!
Watch OKR and be prepared to make some bespoke parts if you are interested and want to go my way. I am currently way behind on my schedule as the guys will remind me from time to time!
If you are prepaired to fit the condenser and compressor somewhere other than up front, you will likely have an easier time of it.
I currently have not found a large enough alternator that fits to realistically cover the current drain, so will have to buffer it with an dual battery in the boot. Likely my duty cycle will be a bit restricted until I find a 120+ amp unit that will fit. I am also concerned with tickover control due to loading from the aircon.
I will share bracket design etc should I be successful. At present this is by no means guaranteed.
Good luck with finding a car.
I look forward to seeing your car on here.
Regards
Nick
