Hi everyone, Slowly crossing things off the list. Is there an issue with the depth of the Water Pump. Purchased a GWP130 and its impellor is shorter than the old one. Is this the norm? Many thanks. Attachments:

Hi K. GWP126 is the correct pump for the sixes. GWP 130 is a Princess pump. There was an excellent analysis in the LOCI mag a year or so back. D@mned if I can find it. Chris.

Thanks Chris,
Mine is only an 1800 Mk2 with the 18YDTAH engine. Will the slight decrease in depth of the impeller make a difference? Thanks

Forget everything I said.... I had 2200s in my head for some reason.
GWP130 is the correct water pump. I am unaware of any problems caused by variations in the impellor, so long as it's not a nasty bent metal one - yours looks like a cast one.
Sorry,
Chris.

The water pump listed for Mk11 Australian cars is GWF130 which may be a locally produced version of the UK spec GWP130 (or a poor quality scan!). MGBs using the GWP130 moved to a shallower impeller as per your photo. I've not been able to find any comments about differences in performance.
However, member "Foursquare" has informed me there are different bolt lengths required for some of the pump castings. I also found a reference on a MGB forum to bolts holes being drilled through to the water jacket on some blocks while others have blind holes so care needs to be taken with a blind hole not to use too long a bolt and risk cracking the block.
Sorry not able to answer your original query definitively but the fact that the MGB uses the shallower impeller suggests it should not be an issue, I hope this is useful.

Thank you David,
Had to install new bolts to ensure it didn't bottom out or g through block. Casting where the holes are were different thicknesses to the old one.
