In an earlier post, I was asking about rear bump stops and rebound rubbers. I asked Tony Wood if he had any, which he does, but needs further info due to change points to ensure he quotes for the correct parts.
That openened up a ball of confusion in my head at least. Tony, rightly, asked for MS number as mine is a Morris MK1, of 1966, and on the cusp of change between a type which has an alloy bracket supporting the rear displacer, and a previous version which didn't.
Looking at the plates on the car, the only thing I can find with MS involved is M17S 5039 M Which is the commission number.
The parts book numbering shows the change point at MS or AS to be further on by some way.
The alloy bracket, illustration 3, also seems to be fitted to later cars.
Perhaps I've misinterpreted the parts books, both mechanical and body, but the numbering has me confused as the bump/rebound rubbers are very different between types. I would really like to know what I'm up against before I order parts, and go digging. EEEEK!
Thanks
Jeff.

Whoop whoop! Task achieved today. As said in an earlier post, the rear suspension was rebuilt and bracketary remade. Good job done but the guy didn't drill the holes for the Nearside rebound buffer. The bracket is an awkward shape so it difficult to get the hole centres in exactly the right place, and fit the new/old stock buffers supplied by Tony Wood. After much faffing, measuring, marking to get the hole centres exactly 3 and 1/4 inches apart for 2, 5/16 unf bolts. Drill in hand I set about marking, centre punching, and drilling pilot holes, then 8mm bolt holes. Even on my hydraulic lifts, and suspensions depressurised, bumper and fuel tank removed it was still awkward to get at. But, I'd managed to crack it, and fit the new buffer. Checking the other side of the car, I found the bolts and mounting plate, but the rubber buffer long gone. Glad Tony sent two. So, both sides now have the correct parts fitted. The job definitely required the suspension to be depressurised to do this job. Glad I bought a pump a couple of years ago! I knew it would come in handy one day. So, next is to take the opportunity to scrape off old underseal and redo the rust protection while there is lots of room. Thanks to Tony Wood, for the parts, and thanks to Chris for the advice. If you have an early car, you might find those rebound buffers long gone. If Tony Wood can't supply, Chris can make them for you.
All I need now is a half decent petrol tank.
