Hi,
I'm looking for an 1800 here in NZ. I want to do something to it that may be impossible...cut the roof off and make a convertible. If anyone has ANY info or pics on this idea please let me know.
Many thanks,
Colin

Anything is possible with enough time, angle grinding discs and welding rods! Advisable? Another story.
I know that when such a thing is done to other monocoque cars like Morris Minor 1000s strength must be added to the chassis as the roof is structural.

Back in the 1970s I saw a crab minus its roof at a local amateur rally-cross meeting. While you would have though it would require bracing, apparently the structure was sufficiently strong enough without it. I didn't have an opportunity to check it out though but undoubtedly the roll cage added some additional torsional rigidity.
