Hi all I am stripping down a front door and have followed the manual instructions and got all handles etc removed but the wood waist trim, it says there are four screws, two are obvious once the door card is removed but the other two? Mine is a 3 litre but as we share the same doors thought I would quiz you guys. Thanks Louise

Is this the capping strip above the door card, Louise? If so, there should be four metal tags that hang below it which are revealed. Each one has a screw and when removed you should be able to bump the strip upwards and off.

Not sure ... on my 1800 it was faux wood/painted metal and you just undid the screws and pushed it up and away as per Penguin - yours will be the same as the Wolseley 18/85 I'm pretty sure - hopefully someone with one of those will be along soon to confirm 100%.

Hi thank you for the help, just panicked a bit when the manual said four screws and we could only see two, took the two screws out and a smallish bash upwards and it came off in one piece. The clips were well and truly holding it, here goes for the tricky bit of re veneering, all four door caps have wood but no veneer left. Thanks again for the help.

Now that's a funny thing. The top cappings on my 18/85 were horribly damaged. After stripping of the remains of the veneer, I found that the base wood was actually a rather attractive mahogany type. I ended up refinishing that and staining it down before applying plenty of lacquer. They looked very smart and a d@mn sight easier than re-veneering! HERE - P3 onwards. C.

When I did my door trims I’m pretty certain that the top layer was some sort of hard coating that had to be carefully picked off leaving the wood effect finish underneath I had them refinished by a French polishing company

Hi all one door top succesfully re veneered ready for many coats of laqure, I will put up a pic soon. Another question really what do you all clean your vinyl seats etc with? and if you need to replace any vinyl anywhere where do you get it from? is it possible to have it colour matched anywhere? Thankyou Louise

Thankyou Louise When I had some work done on my seats I struggled with a colour match. I ended up finding the closest possible match and re-trimming the top part of the rear seat with it. The material salvaged from that was then used for repairs on the front seats. You have to be in the know and looking to see it

Nice bit of shine starting to appear there.
Posting pictures is a problem. Being a free site, we have very limited storage space and would much prefer that you posted using a hosting site such as Flickr or the like.
Chris.

Teenagers? You'll get the "Duh, Mum" (Or Dad in my case.) and the rolling of the eyes and the huffing and the puffing.... My lads are well into the twenties now and just accept that Dad's an old dinosaur who just needs humouring with technology. Seriously, there are a number of hosting sites about these days and most are fairly intuitive to use after a couple of goes. Just beware of Photobucket. Hated by many after attempting to hold the entire internet to ransom some years back. Forums died in droves as a consequence and many have never forgiven them. Chris.
