I came across this advert on YouTube for an Austin 1800 that has been fitted with a Toyota engine and automatic transmission. Some interesting photos of the restoration but difficult to work out what has been done under the bonnet. The Thais can be very ingenious and their skills fitting out interiors are often quite excellent. (Not cheap!)

Pretty neat. As you say, would love to see how they married the engine and drive train though. Tony S

Imported new cars are very expensive in Thailand costing between 2.5 to 3x the price in the UK a a result of punishing import duties. Even Thai produced vehicles that are exported to the UK eg Toyota Hilux, Honda CRV are more expensive. There is a total ban on the import of second hand cars so the foreign classics are rising in price. Having said that the £11,000+ is about 50% more than I would have expected but on the other hand the crabs are very rare. David 450000 Baht is a shade over £11000.
