Chalky, yes, that's the new bracket I have. I think the mk3 (if that's what you have) use a slightly different front pipe to the MK1 and mk2. As I say, the new bracket is a bit short on my MK1. The exhaust is a bit further towards the bulkhead when the manifold is lined up. The MK1 bracket is a bit longer.
Great pics by the way, and funnily enough, you seem to have the exact same rust protection as me.

If you exclude the "S" and 2.2s, there were three front pipes and two pipe brackets.
The earliest front pipe was GEX 1297, which used clamp GEX 7130 - the jubilee clip type.
The others were GEX 1298 and GEX 1339, which used GEX 7132 - the "U" clamp type.
I've had a few battles with front pipes over the years. I've made spacers to make the bracket meet the pipe. I've even made a wider bracket with slotted holes to accomodate an alignment issue on the Wolseley.
There's always a way....
Chris.

Thanks for that very useful info. I did think of making a spacer but in the interests of preserving spares for Tony wood, and landcrab owners, I sent the braket back to Tony, and he is able to provide an early type clamp. As you say theres always a way. I have found that the jubilee early jubilee type bracket can be improved by adapting a reversed U clamp in place of the jubilee clip.
I also discovered that the later front pipes are a slightly larger diameter, 1-3/4in instead of 1-5/8in.
Frustrating as these things can be at times, we learn and move on. Pooling knowledge and experience is what keeps the forum alive.
Cheers
Jeff.

VOF707J by Penguin 45, on Flickr Mine appears to lack the factory lubrication option. It does have input from hydrolastic fluid at the moment. C.
