Hi,
Going to be looking at a Wolseley 18/85 in the hope that it will be good enough to be worth buying which from what I understand is to be sure it is pretty solid. Rust is the worry. I am aware of a few areas but advise on what else to look at would be helpful.

Hi Cybercontroller, welcome to the Forum. Have a look at the rust section here. You will need to be logged in to read the posts. Some of the structural rust ares such as the sills are quite difficult to check and repair. I see the car is an automatic so you need to be very careful to ensure the gear changes are smooth and positive up and down and there is no sign of slipping. Some parts for the autobox are becoming rare and a rebuild can be costly. David

The car has been off the road for a while so will need recommissioning. I have been told the selector is out of sync but believe that may be a cable adjustment. I first saw it a couple of years ago and I do not believe it has moved since then either. CC Wol 18/85 by Penguin 45, on Flickr
