Hi Gurus,
I have finally finished pulling down my 1969/70 Mk 2 Austin 1800 engine and the good news is that it looks okay. A few wear indicators on bearing caps and oil pump seems pretty worn, other than that everything pretty normal
My question is what parts are interchangeable between my motor and a similar period MGB motor, i've been told they are basically the same motor.
I am aware that the camshaft needs a lobe for my manual fuel pump on my motor and the oil pump pick up differs.
Are tappets, pushrods, rocker assembly, pistons/rings (mine are still STD size oem) etc all interchangeable??
Asking because Austin 1800 parts in OZ are much harder to source than MG parts.
Thanks in advance. Steve

Hi Steve
Many of the MGB parts fit the crab. Pistons on my car are MGB as are some of the gaskets etc. Diff washers on my car are from an MGB. Many of the bearings can be aquired from a good supplier here in OZ in QLD anyway! I think the oil pump can be used with a top cover swap although I have not tried myself. You should be fine. Someone on here usually has an alternative they have used so post questions if you can't find something.
Nick

Thanks Nick, I've used a supplier in Qld before British Classic Spare Parts I recall.
