Further to this thread END OF AN ERA, perhaps you may all be interested in what happened next.
We moved to Padiham on St Valentines Day. Complete chaos with the removal due to them not sending a big enough wagon, leading to several trips back and forth, but we got there in the end. There's a big photo dump HERE of the early stages for those interested.

House.

Big scruffy garage.

And a standard one. Had to put a new door on it.

That's Pendle Hill over there.
So, nice spot. After a few days, we realised that there were problems with the gas supply to the back half of the house (there wasn't one), so up came the floor boards, revealing what might politely be called dodgy electrics, so that had to be dealt with as well. Everything got sorted eventually, just in time for us all to get locked up. Which has given us the time to get the house looking nice, stuff sorted properly, innumerable shelves and pictures have been put up and I have finally managed to make a start on the garage.

Roof repaired, bottom 18" slathered with bitumen and the whole thing painted Brilliant White. Looks much better. Doors to be sorted and there is a plan in place, indeed parts in place. First though, storage. Today's mission was to build a huge shelf right round the top under the roof. This will give 15 metres of storage, so should be able to get the smaller stuff stashed away.

Batten up all the way round, first part of shelving up.

And half way across the back. Hopefully get that finished tomorrow.
I was going to build a big workbench. Costed up the materials list and it was cheaper to buy one in! So I have. How can that possibly be right? Anyway, it should turn up in a week or so.
Anyway, it's getting there and I might be able to start doing some car stuff fairly soon.
The rest of the house pictures are HERE for those who think houses are more interesting than garages.
Chris.
