The garage has been getting some use of late, which has highlighted a minor problem. I have three large tools which get occasional use, and need to be securely mounted in order to do so. I don't have the spare space to do that permanently, so today I made this: Multi-tool Stand by Penguin 45, on Flickr 5mm top deck, 3mm angle iron legs, blind nuts and flanges added and it's dismantleable for storage. It does this: Multi-tool Stand by Penguin 45, on Flickr Shrinker/stretcher (Flipper nipper). Multi-tool Stand by Penguin 45, on Flickr Guillotine (Flipper chopper). Multi-tool Stand by Penguin 45, on Flickr Folder (Flipper squasher). Multi-tool Stand by Penguin 45, on Flickr And dismantled for painting. Pretty pleased with that. Haven't done any battleship welding for a while, so quite enjoyable. Chris.

Gonna need those by the look of that door............. Tony s If it hadn't been even hotter today than yesterday, that was going to be my next task. I haven't actually used it yet! Pain will doubtless follow. Chris.

Finished converting the small spare bench grinder into a polishing engine, so that can get mounted on there as well. Padiham by Penguin 45, on Flickr Waits for howls of derision from the Bolton area..... C.

Do tell what you are going to polish. Used one on the shiny bits on the Matchless but the wax goes all over the shop! Ruins your tee shirts. Note the price of wood to keep the oil off the carpet in the conservatory. well, they complain when you go down the pub. C413BB0F-0774-4C5E-A325-3D9B950BA6D8 by Anthony Surman, on Flickr

Ooh - look at that. Lovely. Snoopy will no doubt issue instructions as to what's to be polished in the near future. C.

Bit slow into the garage this morning. "I want to air the camper", said Management. Padiham by Penguin 45, on Flickr Ho hum. Stick a crank up its bottom and wind the roof up. Pop the end bays out and rig the solar panel to charge the leisure batteries. Except... one of them wasn't there and an 1800 battery was. When did that happen? Also in shot is WifeBus and the Bratmobile. Yes, the Matiz has been replaced with a Yaris. To be fair, Alex got himself a bargain. Low mileage, FSH, one owner and the paintwork is a mess. I suspect I'll be sorting that out in the near future. Chris.

Today's the anniversary of the move. Very mixed feelings. Who was to know what was to come? I think we can say we're settled now, but perhaps not established. Beyond the immediate neighbours, we haven't managed to get involved with Padiham life much. I joined the local pubs' pool team, just in time for the pubs to shut. The lockdowns have also prevented me from finding some part-time work, which was always part of the plan.
I'm not going to complain, things could have been far worse. Here's to the future.
Chris.

"WifeBus" has gone. The Ulysse became too much for Julia to cope with and age was taking a rapid toll (of the bus). So we bought this: Vauxhall Agila by Penguin 45, on Flickr Vauxhall Agila by Penguin 45, on Flickr A Vauxhall Agila. It's really a Suzuki Wagon R with a badge stuck on it, so Japanese build quality. New tyres, new exhaust, low mileage, new MoT and it was cheap. Immaculate underneath as well. Very tidy, all things considered. It's really a minature MPV - it's enormous inside. Only a 1 litre, so it needs its little bottom spanking to make it shift, but it's a fun thing to drive. Everything is manual - windows, mirrors, seats so none of the huge electrical complexity of the Ulysse. I suspect that I'll have to fit the head unit from the bus to keep the boss happy. Apart from that, all systems are go. Hopefully that'll do for daily transport for a while. Chris.
