Hi Guys, Would anyone know the correct speedo cable to get for my car please? It is an Austin 1800 Mk1 but it has an auto from the next model car that came after the 1800... it is a single selector cable type that has the inhibitor switch (black triangle shape) attached down low on the actual gearbox.... which I really hate because i broke a brand new one once... I had the wires cable-tied up too tight and the black plastic lid bit pulled apart.... had to wait 2 weeks for another to come from England.... I have actually bypassed this now.... but i digress... if anyone knows the correct speedo cable and where I can get a new one I would be very grateful for the info... I am putting in a replacement instrument panel in as mine went "Pingggg" and stopped working.... at the moment I have a huge oil leak at the gearbox end of the cable and no amount of new o rings has fixed it... I am hoping that a new speedo cable, O ring and mounting it correctly in the new instrument panel will help... Thanks heaps

Hi James It seems a little odd that you are getting a big oil leak from the Speedo drive. Is that what you mean? I'm not 100% with the auto box but the manual box has the Speedo drive connection above the engine oil level. I think the auto would be the same. It may be worth checking the engine has the correct amount of oil in it. There are some issues with incorrect dipstick lengths on the crab. Just a thought. Do you mean it is a gearbox from a Mk2 1800?
