Hey all,
Pretty sure I recall reading somewhere (here, I think) that stated that the block for the 18H/FWD engines are different to those of the RWD ones? i.e. the mating is not the same for the sump and the gearbox housings.
Can anyone confirm if that's true or not? (My father in law may be able to get an engine from an 1800 wedge which he wants for his Marina ute)
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Indy,
Pretty sure that they changed the bottom flange of the block on the transverse engine. Clever in a way, as everthing else apart from the oil pump is the same.

I was looking at whether it was possible to do the opposite here as I found a crab minus engine but had access to a MGB engine. Chris is right the problem lies with the flange and oil feed from the sump /gearbox. It could work, I think using a transverse crab/ early Princess 1800 engine but would need to be modified, the other way round was a non starter for me.
