Hi Guys, My wipers are very "Sloppy"... so much so that once when driving in the rain with high wind, my drivers side went to far to the right and got stuck over the edge of the window somehow... It wasn't fun as I was being passed by a semi trailer at the time!!Is there a wiper setup from a modern care that will fit or can be modified slightly to fit our cars? Thanks

Haven't heard of anything being used as a replacement. That said, the problems with the standard Lucas set-up are pretty simple. Wear in the bearing and gear on the wheel-boxes is the common fault and they are available as replacements, as is the cable drive if required. S-V-C COMPONENTS. Chris.

Would anyone know how many teeth the Austin 1800 wheel boxes should have please? I need to order the new ones now.... The link Chris supplied has stopped working so here it the main site... www.s-v-c.co.uk/search/?query=wheel+box&x=0&y=0&records=6I have spent Sunday afternoon with my head stuck up under the dash... man there is not much room under there and all that felt stuff floating around is really annoying. But now I know how the wipers are all tied together.... when putting them all back in, is it best to put the new wheel boxes in first and then feed the cable through or is there an easier way of doing this? Thanks

Just been rummaging in the garage and found a rack. There are 32 teeth in the wheel box. I suppose you could just feed the cable through after you get the tube back on. The position of the shafts for the wiper won't matter, as you can align the wipers on the splines as you like.
Chris.
