Hi Guys Can anyone tell me if an MGB pre-engauged starter motor is a direct fit to the crab. Thanks Nick

Given the lack of info on the subject I consulted Tony who checked part numbers for me and the MGB starter has a different part number. While it is one of the types used on the crab. I did some digging and it seems the MGB pre-engauged unit has a 10 tooth pinion where as the crab has a 9 tooth. Also Tony suggested there could be a difference in the angle that the solenoid sits, but could not confirm this. The long and short of it was I went for one of Tony's reconditioned crab units to save any issues and resisted the temptation to go for the cheaper MGB unit luckily! Nick

Nick, that's very handy information. I imagine it may be possible to swap the pinion if it makes financial sense, also not sure about the solenoid fitting.
