I’m not surprised it pinked and didn’t like it. A gas has an octane level of 120 RON Premium unleaded is 98 RON Standard unleaded that it was tuned for is about 94 RON
Got any left. Could be interesting in a 2 litre fuel injection landcrab with an ecu that will adjust for timing etc.

Is it practically a modern engine or is it a little more finicky? I think during the war they had "purple petrol" a 140 octane blend - slight disadvantage was that it was extremely poisonous & on top of that now known to be carcinogenic if you were handling it. Wonder what would happen if you put that in an old motorcycle or 40s car, you can guarantee someone tried it..

On cold starts it’s just like a modern car. The choke is disconnected so it’s as simple as turning the key and letting the sensors and magical box of tricks do their thing. Just have to make sure the fuel pump is up to pressure first.
