Hello Can anybody confirm the colour of the Land crab rally cars, they seem to be either Tartan red or Signal red. Roof I take it is old English white as the mini? Car is ready to be painted next week. Rust free at last. Got our entry for Monte Carlo rally leaving from Clyde Bank in February 2019. Thanks Message received from Alan. Chris.

Tartan red is right for the works rally cars. I found a note that some of the very first ones weren't repainted due to time constraints and may well have been Damask.
I doubt that the roof was Old English White - that's actually yellow - Snowberry would be a good strong white of the period.
Chris.

As an aside, I think what may have been the first works rally car - a Mk1 driven by Tony Fall that won the Danube Rally outright in 1967 was painted the standard white of the time which was Snowberry white. I think the red and white first appeared on the 1968 London - Sydney Marathon rally cars. David Tartan red is right for the works rally cars. I found a note that some of the very first ones weren't repainted due to time constraints and may well have been Damask. I doubt that the roof was Old English White - that's actually yellow - Snowberry would be a good strong white of the period. Chris.

Car has been painted Tartan red, old English white roof satin bott and roof tops. Body work is in surprisingly good condition, only a few bits cut out of door and rear wheel arch and sill, ended cutting both open to look inside, both and previously been done. Will post some pictures.

Used old English white for roof as my old Mini 1071 was that colour. Looks like an off white. Mini was also tartan red funny enough. Pleased with out come. Better than the signal redthat the car had been painted.

Looks very good. Mines currently Ivory (roof, rear window surround & boot/strakes) over very tired Green (and for the life of me I don't know what green). I need to repaint the bonnet and am tempted to go black on that (just not wing tops). I do wonder whether there was a roof reinforcement with the double spares though, that panel flexes quite easily. I wouldn't want to be in there with two wheels up there if it rolled - you'd suddenly find yourself with about 6 inches less headroom...

We welded in a big bar across the inside of the roof just Infront of the standard roof bar. Plus a 150mm spreader plate for each tyre and a 125mm plate on outside off roof. We are going to put in a rear roll cage shortly, but we have a three man crew so need rear seat. Running out of time as Monte is on 30 Jan 2019.
Used to be a BL colour called Aqua Marine if I remember, lovely period colour. Looks similar to the colour of the car in your image. Could be Almond green the colour Morris Minors were painted. Can't tell from little image.

I imagine you also need a bit of time to adjust to the handling once the wheels are bolted to the roof?
