Hi All after having owned and restored European coupes for many years and whilst looking for something for the family to enjoy, I came across a Landcrab. It has all the things I was warned about; Lucas Prince of Darkness electrics and dodgy build quality but it captured my heart and I bought it. 1972 Mark 11 in BRG currently with a few bits of TLC needed. I will post pics at some point

Welcome, Rob. I imagine your car will be pretty rust free, which is the big killer. Joseph Lucas - Prince of Darkness? He's a pussy cat really; no better and no worse than any other electrical supplier of the time. All simple, basic stuff which can be worked through with a multimeter and some patience.
Pics appreciated - can't have been many in South Africa. It'd be interesting to see if there were many "market" differences.
Enjoy, ask anything you like, we'll try and help.
Chris.

Thank you Chris and Andrew; yes I have seen a few of them now that I own one but still don't think they are very common. Some pics below; I am currently completing a bit of a touch up on the bodywork just to get rid of one or two blemishes on the body. Next is wheel bearings and ball joints and then I can move to the interior where that carpet is toast. Looking forward to getting the car ready for an outing.

Looks like a good one from the photos...my main problems were the rust and then getting carried away with every possible modification under the sun (bar fuel injection!). Have had a fair few hols in South Africa and loved it, Gordon’s Bay, Nysna, Plettenberg, that neck of the woods. cheers Andrew

We from hot climates don't have the extent of rust to deal with as our Northern Hemisphere Landcrab friends which makes our refurbs a lot easier. Just starting mine. Cheers Jim
