I mentioned recently that my friend had problems with the distributor cap on his MGB that had a graphite brush that showed a high resistance. A quick update, he ordered some new plug leads from a "specialist" based in the West Midlands and checked their resistance. One lead measured 1K, the second 25K and the other two were open circuit. No doubt they would have worked after a fashion as even the leads showing open circuit would probably have conducted the high voltage for a while albeit with some internal jumping and burning - assuming there was a conductor inside!
A word of warning, leads like this WILL destroy electronic ignition units and also ignition coils as the energy that should reach the plugs will be dissipated in the coil and the ignition module transistors (IGBTs) will be subject to stress. Probably not instantly, but no doubt at a most inconvenient time with all the inherent dangers. So, it's not just rotor arms but it seems leads as well that may be suspect. I suggest worth checking their resistance once a year and when fitting replacements - and people criticised Lucas!

New plug leads purchased from Moss, resistance measured 5K, work fine. Actually not expensive MGB plug leads fit the crabs of course.
