I’ve been having a good tidy up and a sort out of tool sets and discovered I had lots of items missing from various sets. I’m not one for loosing tools so I had a good look round and managed to find most of them in various cars.
This has led me to a question “What tools do you carry in your classic for the emergency situation “ What I’m looking to do is put a comprehensive list together rather than just carry a bag of everything.

Mobile phone and RAC membership card seems to cover it for me! You wuss! Tools: AF spanners, straight + cross bladed screwdrivers, pliers. Stanley knife, insulating tape. Parts: Points, condenser, rotor arm, fan belt, random bit of wire, ty-raps. And anything else that takes your fancy, depending on your level of competance. Chris.

Defn. "a weak or ineffectual person" ! Cheers for that !! If I'm on a rally I take the whole kit and caboodle but don't bother for day to day stuff.

They're.... hang on, you're going to ask me what a carburettor is next, aren't you? I suppose you need to consider what the guy in the big yellow tool box hasn't got anymore. Unlikely to carry Imperial tools these days, or the basic service parts mentioned above, so you have to have them. If you can't fit them yourself, the call out guy will do it for you. What you do with yours, Snoopy, I really don't know. It's a bit special. Chris.

Trolley jack, axle stands, socket set with whitworth, AF and metric sizes, bigger socket set with just AF and metric, full set of AF ring spanners, full set metric ring spanners, as above but open ended, full sets ratchet spanners in AF and metric, pliers, mole grips, hammer, hacksaws, about a dozen screwdrivers in of various design, Oil, brake/clutch fluid, WD40, Gaffer Tape, points, condenser, rotor arm, coil, plug leads, plugs, torque wrench, petrol can ....... and other odds and ends I cant remember
Why? Because I have nowhere else to put them. I did have my sanders, polishers and paint mop stored in an area of the block of flats designated for storage and someone has nicked them
I can't actually lift my toolbox and Mo sags at the back! Can no longer use the tools for that matter
