Hello from Adelaide, South Australia. After learning to drive in a crystal white Austin 1800 MK II some 30+ years ago, I have recently bought a green Austin 1800 MK II circa June 1970 as a mid-life present to myself. It's in beautiful condition inside and out, and for 47 years of age is in much better condition than my first one that at 17 years of age had been neglected to such an extent before I bought it that the doors were little more than rust. It's had its engine rebored, cooling system replaced and is immaculate under the bonnet. I have to check an oil leak that I don't think is coming from the gear cable mount and perhaps get a supplementary cooling fan fitted if I want to drive it anywhere over our summer months. My wife and I did the Bay to Birdwood Classic run a few weeks back, then last week took it up to Eudunda, in South Australia's lower North, to take some photos of "Mr Toad" (as we have christened him) in front of the old BMC dealership up there. It seemed fitting. I'm not very mechanically minded myself and hope to learn about maintaining these wonderful and unique vehicles through this board.

That’s a cracking car, and that dealership building is a bit of a survival too The only other BMC rosette branding I’ve seen is on a Riley dealers at the the back of the Chemistry Department in Geneva Uni (don’t know if it is still there, but it was in 2010).

Snap! Must have be a line up for the service department that day with two there! ;-) Welcome to the forum. I concur that "Mr. Toad" is indeed one sweet looking 1800 after viewing it at the B2B! Cheers Steve
