I met up with Sherpa today in the wilds of the Derbyshire Peaks and we spent a fun few hours getting the engine refitted. The clutch has been replaced and some other work done to the engine prior to a tasteful green repaint. The car itself looks magnificent, having been resprayed. You will have seen that in the picture stream above; it looks just as good in the flesh. So: Engine looking very smart as a fully assembled power unit, note radiator and shrouds in place. Pristine engine bay - note cunningly artificed plywood protection for the inner wing grille. Up she goes - you could smell the fear in the air as we crept up to the car with the engine. Would we scratch the paint? We didn't, actually! Lowered it down millimetres at a time. Various bits of padding were positioned and re-positioned as we went until we got the engine cross bar lined up, followed by the engine mountings. Front mount and rear tie-bar in place, so the strain was released and the car settled quite evenly on the suspension. Which was nice. Mind you, we lifted it straight back up again in order to refit the gear cable selector unit. This turned into a cow of a job, so we stopped for a bite of lunch and a phone call to my friend Mike Jordan. He explained how to correctly align the selectors inside the gearbox, which I did and the cover went straight on in two minutes. Unfortunately, Dan hadn't got a ball joint splitter to hand, so getting the drive shafts reconnected will have to wait for another day. Instead, we got the clutch hooked up and got some of the wiring reinstated before calling it a day. All in all a good days work and I promise you, this will be a beautiful 'Crab in the near future. Chris.

A massive well done and thankyou to Chris for helping me today. Top bloke, good company and good guidance for this task which I have been dreading.
This bloke doesnt mess about! The engine was in after about an hour and if id anticipated getting this far and having the relevant tools I reckon we would have had it going today, but we did well and got things moving well so that hopefully I wil soon be able to report further progress..
It was also good to meet Eug. She looked great.
