I've been to this since it started and today was the 4th event. I think it may be my favourite show of the year as it is small scale and has an end of the season wind down atmosphere about it. The weather was fine for most of the day with just the odd five minute shower between much longer sunny spells. A few pictures just to give a flavour.
"]
There weren't that many Landcrabs, less than 10 and they were certainly familiar. Clive got an award for Now 85 which is the last one in this line.
"]
Until I saw this I had forgotten how much I had once wanted a Magenta Dolomite. The colour was only available on the Sprint and then only for a year or two. When I was a student in Bangor the local Lada dealer had one in part-ex for £450. I should have bought it but instead hung on to my Butterscotch Instant Whip coloured 1850HL.
"]
Took a fancy to this as well, though I think Chris says they are a pig to work on and can rust in a scary fashion.
"]
Good showing for Maxis too and some very nice ones were there today.
"]
The gold coloured Maestro belongs to a young lad who I was asking how it drove with it's curious 3+E VW gearbox with some very tall gearing. It seems you have to rev it quite hard in 2nd and 3rd and then it dies off a bit in fourth. Doesn't do much for the economy that it was designed for. Mind you he says he won't be driving it for quite a while as the insurance is eye watering expensive, his premium is more than I paid for my whole car.
The Montego was a nice 2.0D with low mileage which in itself must be a rarity. The owner came down from Newcastle and went away with an award today.
"]
This 1.0L Metro is on eBay at the moment with a bid of £600. Very nice condition chocolate interior. The exterior has a few scuffs and the front valence was going on its seams but overall a good buy depending on the final bid.
"]
These were new. I don't know if these are the original Milton Keynes concrete cows but I couldn't resist putting my Maestro alongside when there was a chance at the end of the day before we all cleared off home.
That's it for outdoor shows for me for this year. MOT next and then the light use and maintenance regime kicks in at the end of next month.
