Not a surprise really. Don't think I have actually seen a modern MG on the road around here, and certainly no idea where there is a dealer. That plant was doomed from the dark days of the strike ridden 70's

They are on sale in Thailand, imported from China. You can't even buy one here with manual transmission and they call them MGs!!! The adverts suggest they are British with the Union Flag plastered everywhere. The models are competitvely priced but I think unlikely to succeed competing with Toyotas and Hondas that have the supporting infrastructure and good resale values.
Sorry to see Longbridge production going having grown up in the Midlanda, but not surprised.

With the reported loss of 25 jobs from this announcement there can't have been much going on that could be called production.

Very sad
Being an Ex Austin Apprentice having worked at Longbridge 1957 to 1980 Im very sad to see it disappear When I started there it employed 28000 people and produced revolutionary cars
Iv just bought a Morris 1800 1971 24000 miles

Hi Baz,
Sad to see it finally go. Have you been down to Pride of Longbridge? It's in the park over the road and it's a bit special. I've met quite a few line workers over the last couple and it's quite moving.
Nice to hear about the car - some pictures would be good, or get a resto thread going up the forum a bit.
