Not a transmission question, but a oil pump question. Are the internal parts of the Landcrab oil pump the same as the MGB oil pump and can be swapped? The external sure is different.

While cleaning my transmission in my parts washer I flipped over and later found a part in the part washer. I'm not sure it even came out of it, there were some other parts in a bowl that fell over. Did this piece come out of the tranny? Found it, locating plate for the shift rods. Attachments:

Where do you get the hood buffers? I'm missing both of mine.

Looks a lot like the one we used to own, blue with gray interior, 87 series III. Very fine car, a bit old fashioned though. A nice cruiser. Next to my racer

Further to your clutch release bearing having no carbon (ie it's flush with the casting), don't think about re-using it. You'll be running metal on metal with the facing plate on the clutch cover.

No, I don't want to reuse it as is, I was thinking of using it with a bearing instead of a carbon surface.

Nothing else that I can think of, Charly. Take the clutch - you can use the friction disc, but the cover is different. Engine side you're pretty well covered by 5 bearing MGB stuff (After all, they adapted our engine to fit in their car, but most MGB owners don't know that. . Front brakes are the M16 caliper fitted to millions of European Fords through the 60's and 70's. Rear brake cylinders are shared with the MGC, shoes with the Austin A50, A55 and A60 series cars. I think that's about it. Further to your clutch release bearing having no carbon (ie it's flush with the casting), don't think about re-using it. You'll be running metal on metal with the facing plate on the clutch cover. Chris.

No, don't need Kevlar, but lots of choices for MGB. I had no idea the clutch plate was the same. What else in the drive train is the same as other cars (Austin Healy MGB Cambridge etc.)?

Yes, I'll check those items. Also I think I'll have my clutch disc relined, do you know the thickness? Thanks

I like this concept. I'm hoping my release bearing isn't too worn to use. When I pulled it apart, there was no carbon left on it. Another thought I have about it is the transmission always had trouble going into first gear, I'd have to turn off the motor some times to engage it. Would then worn bearing cause this or should I look at the synchro (baulk) rings?

I actually found a release bearing in Canada but I would really like to have something better than the friction style. Yes, I can make gaskets, but my time is to valuable to sit around cutting out dolls. I've made them at the race track several times and a good way to make them is to lay them on the part and tap them edges with a lite hammer. I then use a leather punch for the bolt holes. What is being done about the oil leak on the shifter cables? A couple of years ago I used a shrink fit electrical tubing on the casing to keep it from leaking out, but the oil still eventually makes its way back to the shifter. How do I contact Tony Wood

okay, thanks. Where does a person get the gaskets that are only used on the Landcrab motor, like the clutch cover, engine plate to idler assembly , diff etc?
I think I'm going to put a header on my Crab, any suggestions?

Got down to the clutch, the t.o. bearing is toast, what do you do for new ones?
