Can anyone pick a possible issue with the thermo fan setup that may bite me at some point?

Twins COOL! They sure look the goods my friend! I helped my daughters move recently and was shocked at what they had accumulated already. Problem is half of it has ended up at our place. It's not like we need any more stuff either! Nick

Funny you should say that David the trait came in handy when I helped my daughters move! For the moment I will be keeping it simple. You know me too well though, there will be a controller for the fan and the oil pump. Not sure when, but I have an old project that I think I may be able to modify to use on the car. It's a speed controller for a go cart that also senses motor and FET temperatures so some of the work is done. Nick I bet you're good at fitting things in suitcases when you travel! What was the fan's original intended use? Now all you need is a PWM driver variable speed to optimise the coolant temperature (or it may be best to keep it simple! David

Welcome aboard mate. Good to see another Australian car. You don't see many these days in QLD. I haven't seen one on the road here for some years. I am hoping to correct that soon.

Nice job Chris. The seats look great. Totally agree with the dash. Absolute pain and I didn't bother to put back the top section! Nick Glove box by Penguin 45, on Flickr Lovely. My advice to anyone contemplating doing this is.... PAY SOMEONE TO DO IT FOR YOU!Nightmare job, absolute nightmare. It's obviously meant to be done with the dashboard out and partially disassembled to give access. Inaccessible rivets is the principle problem. This has gone back together with self tappers and Spire clips as appropriate. I'm not going through that again. Being on the smaller side was useful for rolling about under the dash. Anyway, looks nice. Chris.

I should add that it was more by luck than judgment that I got a setup I was happy with on OKR.

Thats an interesting question David. For this car I am 100% keeping the PAS. I really don't want to upset the feel of the car. If I get rid of the PAS it will need to have the old steering wheel put back, which I never liked. I do think the set up of PAS makes a big difference. From the pump ratio to the valve set up and steering wheel size. The W6 feedback with PAS was a bit lacking. It improved with a smaller steering wheel but was different to OKR. Not sure what the pump to engine speed ratio was on the W6. I think a bit different than OKR. The valve adjustment I think can be at fault for cars that don't give much feedback too. I can see why manual would give more consistency. Space too! Nick Hi Nick Some more impressive engineering! Given how crowded it is under the bonnet were you not tempted to fit a manual steering rack to ease the congestion? David

Couple more pictures that wouldn't work yesterday. The new bracket uses a W6 PAS pump bracket instead of the hand made one above. The old bracket with the thermostat housing pointing the other way to accommodate the different rad that I am going to fit. Its a bit close to get the hose on. New bracket with space to connect the hose and a better pump position. Also the clutch is back together. Nick

It is an addition David. I used the PAS rack from my dads Mk11. It started with a modified dynamo pump. Then I found a Triumph pump and made the dual pulley setup. The dynamo pump was not very successful. I did try to use the mk111 thermostat housing bracket to mount the pump but the cast soon broke. Thats when the old bracket under the housing came along. This time updated with a W6 pump bracket on the pump and a new housing bracket as shown. It is getting a different rad which has the in/out on opposite sides unlike the mk111 rad. Nick Hi Nick Can you remind me if OKR came with power steering or was this something you added, hence the double pulley? I don't seem to remember any Mk111 A/M cars with PAS although I believe it was still offered as an option. David

Ah now I'm with you. Yes that's a good idea something like the Ryco RCC351 ?
I also still need to take Andrews advice and give the original one a clean out.
Nick Shouldn't be to much of a challenge to find somewhere to fit it considering the ingenuity you have displayed in mounting the electric compressor and other non standard bits . I do admit it's a bit tight though! It would need to be inserted in series with the pipe from the crankcase breather filter and the constant depression inlet on the carb. In my experience some oil and combustion fumes still end up not getting captured by the original equipment. David

Where would you fit the catch can? Nick Maybe worth fitting a cheap catch can to help minimise contaminants? David
