Upgrade of the B-series. More power and 1950cc? That's the winner. Over the the last couple of years the car has developed a few bad oil leaks. The worst of which I think is the crank case oil seal. As this is an engine out job I'm going to go through the engine and rebuild including a bore out, new Pistons fast road cam and stage 2 head. The he engine came out kicking and screaming last weekend. I'm quite glad I started this as two of the engine mounts were totally shot. They looked absolutely fine on the car. I would suggest that everyone who has not changed them recently has a close look at theirs. Pics to to follow when I get into the garage to take them.

He's been doing stuff and hasn't put up any pictures....... Mr P..... You are a rotten snitch. All I'm saying at the moment is that I've been reading Andrews thread with interest and I have oil leaks to cure. Here is is a picture to get everyone thinking and commenting Attachments:

Glad you enjoyed the show. Nice to see Paddy's stretch limo out. I've been having a look at pictures of the show on "other forums" and they don't seem to be complaining about the crowds so much as the peculiar lighting. Chris. Having just got back from the nec running the stand for the WOC I can vouch that the crowds on Saturday were horrendous. Sunday seemed to be the quieter day but still very busy. The strange lights at the nec are sodium lights. They turn all the photos orange.

She's finally in the garage. Snoopy's coming over tomorrow. Oil draining as I type. So - clutch, thrust washers, valve stem seals and oil pressure to look at. I was pretty sure that the oil pump was new when I looked before fitting the engine to the box. Relief valve kit is pennies, so might do that anyway. Chris. I hope this clutch is a tad easier than the matiz.

I'm certain the smoke is not residue from the carb cleaner. I have let it run for quite a while. Also when hot the radiator does not have a lot of pressure.

A bit of tinkering today revealed muck in the bottom of the float chamber. Carb removed, jets etc stripped off and all doused in copious amounts of halfrauds best carb cleaner and re assembled. I haven't road tested it yet but it seems to rev well on the drive.
However. While it was ticking over on the drive I noticed white smoke emitting from the exhaust. That will be the head gasket then...

I seem to be having an issue with the car. It's been running very nicely. A couple of weeks ago it ran all the way to ripon and back without missing a beat other than a little pinking and lack of power on hills. I put this down to a timing issue. I had the timing properly checked and adjusted this morning as it was advanced. On the way home the car lost power and stopped. I thought this was a fuelling issue as the filter looked empty. I've replaced the fuel pump and fuel is getting to the filter. The problem I now seem to have is that on tick over it's running nicely. As soon as I apply the throttle it has no power
Anyone any thoughts ??

You may know that feeling when stuff is going on all around you and you're not quite in charge. Seems to be pretty much the story of my life. MrsP has bought another one. To be fair, it seems more or less rust-free with a virtually complete service history, so a reasonable deal for the money. Anyone want a slightly dodgy blue Matiz? Plenty of MoT, ¼ of a tank of fuel and a new clutch - first £150, it's yours. Chris. If it needs a clutch I'm going to be poorly that weekend ...................

I have a hole in my dashboard where the silver disk is. Two questions 1. What should be there ? 2. I'm thinking of expanding the hole to take a cigarette lighter type 12v outlet. Can anyone think of any issues doing this ?

I've had rather a sticky day today. I thought it was about time the boot had some panels and carpet. I have made the panels from 5mm external quality ply because I don't want damp to delaminate the glues. The carpet is a very thin carpet with no backing that I picked up at a show simply stuck to the ply with a spray on glue. Im struggling to get pictures on. They will have to follow.
