The time may be approaching when I have to part with my beloved Mo. For a while I haven't been able to do much work on her, and currently she sits unused as the suspension needs pumping up a little. I have a pump - in the flat. Trouble is car is 4 floors below and I am no loner strong enough to carry it to car. (Friend who helps me is away on a long holiday, cleaner who also helps has injured her arm assisting me with wheelchair repairs) Recent MOT, runs smoothly (usually!) Chris repaired the underside and I am told that is still unmarked and like new. She needs painting. Upholstery is all original with no tears, carpets were replaced about 10 years ago. IF I were to market her, any ideas on what I should ask? I have full history, including original order to factory and invoice from 1969 until a few years ago when health started bothering me and I became less enthusiastic about paper work
I would hate to see her just sit and eventually rot away. Recorded mileage is 140000 on original engine

Morning - haven't seen her in the flesh and it depends how quickly you want to move her on. Auctions seem to get good results at the mo (!) (don't know about ebay) as people can get carried away and there's no hassle once you've dropped her off with the auctioneers. To answer your question I'd guess at anywhere between £3k & £4k - but then again you might be happy with £2k to an impecunious enthusiast who is going to love and cherish her....

So sorry to hear you are thinking may have to let Mo go. I hope your health improves and you are able to keep and enjoy Mo for a while longer. As Andrew A noted it is hard to judge a fair price. The latest is know of was the crab at Anglia car auctions on 15th June which "is available" at £3,500 here

Thanks Andrew and Dave. Cars tend to be bought at auction by 'Dealers' who try to con some members of the public whilst making a fast buck
I have 2 local mechanics who would like the car, both of whom want to try and fit a V8 engine and grass track race her. Not keen on disposing of her like that.
I will contemplate what to do before she stars to deteriorate through lack of use

Hi all, I've just purchased an Austin 1800 Mk2 from 1970 from an old lady after the husband past away. It was his pride and joy with only 47k on the mileage. I'm getting it tested and checked over at a garage and will then be looking to sell. Colour is black, new red leather interior, new brake calipers, very well looked after by previous owner.
Any indications of a good price? Anyone interested? Based in Norfolk, UK.

Hello there, welcome aboard. Sorry to read that you will be a transitory owner. Nebulous things, prices. I bought my first one in 2003 for £400 with an MoT. It shouldn't have had one, but that's another story. Those days are gone and most cars have some value now. Projects, breakers, scrappers - £500 - £1000.
Running, rough, MoT'd - £800 - £1500 seems to be the order of the day. Presentable, usable, improvable - £1500 - £3500. Nice - £3000 - £5000. Mint/concours - £7000 and upwards. "S" models have a slight premium. Rally cars often have a large premium, with genuine ones topping £30,000 now. Take this as an opinion, not a professional guide, as it is based on years of watching the cars sell and the prices gradually easing upwards. I would suggest that black is an emotive colour. It's only in recent years that black has become popular again after the colourful '60's and '70's. At that time it was often associated with the funeral trade, so not a natural first choice and a rare one for the 'Crab. We would appreciate a few pictures of the car if you can. It helps us build up a record of the surviving cars, their condition, value, etc. Good luck with it, Chris.
