Thought I was settled in this flat - been in it for 3 years now (house went when I separated from wife 10 years ago so no option other than rent) then out of the blue agents contacted me last Monday to say Landlord wants to sell so won't offer a new lease. No real problem as this riverside block has 90 flats and someone who works for the managing agents is a friend and within an hour had lined up 2 replacements. Big problem is the physical move now I am more reliant than ever on the wheelchair. Rapidly dwindling funds in old age mean a pro move is out of the question so friends have been roped in, but I still have to organise it all - especially Rachael who is in a world of her own. Then a neighbour here who is a hospital doc called in to collect a parcel I had taken in for her and saw a growth on my head, asked for a light and told me what it was. I had asked a GP a few weeks ago and she had no idea what it was and gave me a standard referral to hospital (6 weeks to months) Called in at surgery yesterday and asked if appointment could be made sooner. Practice manager said not possible without seeing another GP so appointment hastily arranged for yesterday morning (funny that as people were coming in asking for appointments and were being told nothing available until the end of March) This different GP knew exactly what she was looking at and updated the referral to most urgent and told me that I should be at hospital within a week and if not I have to let her know. Apparently I have an aggressive skin cancer on my head, Busy times ahead then How many mirrors .............
Sorry for the mutterings - just so frustrating not being able to the things I used to

Sorry to hear about your troubles. You need to be able to focus on your health and not get too stressed about the move as I am sure your friends will be able to organise it all for you under the circumstances. You might just need to reorganise your posessions after the move but I have always found I need to do that after moving anyway.
Disgusting that the first GP couldn't identify the problem when you saw her a few weeks ago, after all this is not rare. I'm sure everyone here wishes you well and hopefully the treatment will resolve the problem quickly. Lucky you took in the parcel.
best wishes
David

I hope all goes well for you Peppib. I had an aggressive skin cancer removed five almost five years ago from my neck. (malignant melanoma - mole). Quite shock at the time and I still report in to the Hospital every six months for them to check if any lumps and so forth have appeared. I hope to get discharged later this year. I now have lots of floppy hats and vitamin D supplements to make up for the loss of sunlight.
all the best

Thanks David & Nick
Nick - I had my first skin growth removed back in 1967 when I was in my early 20's, another removed from near my eye in 1987 (had to pay £1000 for that one as it kept bleeding into my eye and GP at the time said it would be 3 months before I was seen by NHS, Next day treatment as I paid) 2 from my shoulder in the 90's, one from my forehead in 2003 and 3 from my neck in 2007 - difference being I could see those so knew what they were and acted quickly. Have felt this one for about 7 months but can't see it and Rach kept telling me I had just cut myself shaving my head. It was only when it became very sore I asked the first GP what it was. Funny thing is I always wear a hat. I also have sun damage on my left temple (hat doesn't cover that bit) Doc has had me on vitamin D for years. Hope you get the final all clear this year
David - as long as I stay in this development, I have storage space in a 'secret' area, known only to a few tenants and requiring a master key to access, so my car spares don't need moving - all except a spare cylinder head I bought from Paddy, which has been under my wardrobe for nearly 3 years , oh, and my Dalek suspension pump which is secreted in a wardrobe in the spare bedroom. What exactly is reorganisation?? Rach once was chatting to Reg at a show and complained to him that I had stuff all over the place, especially near my chair and asked him what he thought. Nirvana was his reply Dave

Sorry to hear that Dave, hope it gets remedied soon.
As David said, focus on your health and forget the move for the moment.
Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks guys. Getting a bit nervous now as I haven't had one this big removed before, but feeling positive I have booked the crab in for MOT next week!

Cancer identified as BCC type rather than SCC, which means it is unlikely to spread to major organs. Big relief there.
Now back to flat hunting. Where did I leave the pith helmet, binoculars and shotgun?
Again, thanks for the good wishes

Pleased to hear the good news! That must be a huge relief. Now how about making the cylinder head a focal point rather than hiding it in the new flat. It is a thing of beauty really regards David

Thanks all.
Dave - Her Ladyship doesn't like anything mechanical around the place which is why it is hidden under a wardrobe! She can't stand oil or anything greasy - has a real phobia about it.
