Converted to an electric fuel pump with a S spec camshaft. Maybe using an unmodified MGB cam necessitating the need for the fuel pump? Am I right to think the latter has been installed under the bonnet - if so Chris' inertia cut out switch would be a good idea.

Looks like it's top left in the piccie. Mine's at the back under the valance, so that's a sucker instead of a pusher. Odd choice of using an "S" cam with a single carburettor.
It's currently at £2250 from £0.99 yesterday, so there's some proper interest in it.

When I was tweaking my engine the people in the know reckoned that in reality there would not be a huge difference in the power band between the single and twin carbs su set up. It was intimated that the twin carb was more of a BL sales thing.

I think that now for every day use a single carb makes more sense for most people as the power advantage of the twins with the S camshaft are really only noticeable after around 4,000 to 4,500 rpm and low end torque is actually slightly less. My preference based on experience back in the 1970s was that the cam fitted to some of the earlier Mk1 cars offered the best compromise with the same inlet timing as Mk11/111 cars but with MGB (and later the 1800S)exhaust timing profile, running much better at higher speeds.

Yup I had the same observations when mine was on rolling road that the spec of the engine ran out of puff before it could really make use of the twin carbs. If I'd gone the 2 litre, forged pistons etc etc route it would have been worthwhile but for a small overbore and a mild cam a single SU was enough and probably better.

This is back up for sale again. It's made its way from Lytham St. Anne to Burnley (No, no, no, no, no). Starting bid £500 from a seller with no feedback. I'd be very wary..... HERE.

Do quite like that but looks to need a bit of work.
