lol I was thinking the same thing with the regards to the family car comment, just spend another $2k on her and she'll serve nicely in that role for a while!

At first I thought this forum was going up market quoting Shakespeare but see it's back to normal as it was Ronnie Corbett! I wonder if he's looked under the bonnet - a 6 cylinder 1800, very rare beast. Now time for a break or did I mean brake? David [ quote author=penguin45 board=carsandpartsforsale thread=344 post=3467 time=1361497747] we've just had a baby and need a family car now. He knoweth not his 'Crab. Auto too - one box ticked............. Price seems decent for a legal runner. BTW - language, Timothy (TV joke - "SORRY!" - Ronnie Corbett). Chris.[/quote]

No good for Chris, I see the driveshaft universal joint is broken . Why don't you get it for spares, it could save you loads of money long term regards David

Montego: Had one, loved it. Passed it to my sister who ran it until it finally gave in. Rust seemed to get most of them in the UK in the end. Rear of the sills was one of the first places to go if I remember. I always got very good economy from mine. You'll have to translate but 40mpg is achievable from the 1.6 or 2.0. I once got 70 from a diesel estate Getting rare now Nick

Dad ran a Countryman estate for many years. Quick, economical, rustbox. Sills and rear arches got it in the end.

Lucky for us in NZ we don't have salt on the road, helps make the cars last a lot longer. The average age of cars here is 13 years old, still see plenty of people driving in late 80s and earl 90s cars. Of course how many of them that have WOFs is another matter lol.
Should have seen the wife's face when I said I might bid on the Montego......was not good lol.

Unlike the Rover, it's a simple car, therefore relatively inexpensive to maintain. Selling point to MrsIJ?

I tried to explain that to her, but she's the "I won't be seen dead in that" kind lol.
Forgiveness over permission?
