It would be interesting to know how many members of this forum belong to the LOCI, LOCA or any other Landcrab groups around the world. Perhaps there can be some (formal) mechanism for feedback of technical issues to and from these groups and this forum? I have heard rumours that some of he LOCI members, for example, are not computer users but we are all potential losers if we fail to share our expertise.
If you agree with my thinking, what is the best way to set this up?
David

I appreciate the efforts you have made to spread the word and the offer to let people write to you. In Australia there is useful information on the website at www.bluestreaksix.com/Austin1800/Index.html and of course in the Landcrab Google groups (which cannot accept new members as the administrator has gone awol) - and of course here on this the most active of the forums. I have time on my hands now I am retired and think I could pull the information together in a structure probably based around the workshop manual format but am looking at a way of getting the information from those who are not computer literate. Is there a way of downloading Tony Woods' brain (and Patrick's from Oz), I think not, but you get the idea. Searching the forums can be tedious especially as they grow and there are lots of loose ends. I understand this is a computer based forum and not a club, but maybe I could act as a bridge between the two and benefit everyone?

the administrator has gone awol) Yes; I spent a frustrating few months trying to contact someone about this and in the end created my own group. : groups.google.com/group/landcrabs/maybe I could act as a bridge between the two and benefit everyone? Great idea! Just let us know what you need and I'm sure all on here will offer you what support we can.

I really appreciate this forum and the efforts made by the founder! A job well done! In my opinion this is the internet forum for the future when it comes to the crab, with frequent updates, active users and where you're able to have response within reasonable time, except my question about cable/ rod change:-) :-)lol.. It's about time the brilliant Crab had an active forum like this, with the different boards like technical, your cars etc like forums for other classic cars. Just look at the fabulous active Marina forum at www.morrismarina.org.uk. Hopefully many crabbers will find their way to this forum. Let's keep it active, that's what people want and need. I'll absolutely do my best to respond and help where I can and as soon as I can as well as showing interest in pictures etc. I'm in at least once a day, more these days as I'm ill at the moment and bored:-) The more members we are here, the more knowledge we have about the crab. When we put our heads together, I'm sure we can solve all problems a Crab will give. Keep up the good work all and enjoy your Crabs:-)

[/quote] What I need to do first is to gather all the information currently available, sort and filter it and then put it into a suitable framework, so if you have a camshaft problem for example you don't have to search through a lot of irrelevant postings or do a search that may or not come up with all or relevant topics. I will then need some "experts" to check it out for accuracy and find a suitable website eg LOCI or the Oz site to host it with links to and from this and the other forums. My initial thoughts are to have headings on how to tackle jobs and overcome problems that are not clear from the workshop manuals, eg changing the front suspension lower rubber bushes; what alternative parts may be used if the originals are no longer available and modifications eg upgraded large engine mountings. I will need to get the authority from the websites and forum owners to use all of this information for this purpose. As I am not based in the UK is there anyone who is on good terms with the LOCI (I am a member) who could persuade them to let us use the information published in their magazine ( I appreciate this may be a stumbling block, but hopefully they may take a wider view.) Similarly if there is anyone in Oz who can do the same. Then we will need to think about how to increase the database. Clearly the forums are one source, but maybe the LOCI regional meetings could be persuaded to have an input - and any similar meetings in Oz or elsewhere. Again I will need some input from people in those locations. Is this sounding on the right track - would appreciate feedback positive and negative - and any volunteers! thanks David

If you PM me your email address (it's marked as hidden in your profile) and I'll cc you in on my request.
