Thanks Chris. Just as well I've used 6mm fuel hose and warmed it up to fit the pump and filter. If you mean clips as in the original spring clips, I'm not a great fan, especially when they're old and rusty.

No - THIS SORT OF THING. They stay round when tightened, unlike a Jubilee or snail drive clip. C.

Chris, Yes, I know what you mean now. I have used those in the past but found they can be problematic if not stainless steel. The thread is very fine on the bolt and captive nut and can seize making removal difficult.
Personally, I've never had a problem with decent Jubilee clips. They will distort if they are too large for the job or tightened up without reason tho', or if of poor quality, and strip the thread.
That got me Googling the term "jubilee clip" and a very interesting history came up. A name used as man and boy by all of us and I never gave it a thought. We live and learn.
