They were quite widely advertised "back in the day" for those wishing to tow caravans. Supposed to improve handling too.

Yup - they were the second best mod I did to my car...rear anti roll bar was the best and these were great - they stop the nose of the car pointing at the sky when you take off quickly and help the displacers out - particularly when fully laden or airborne. Tony Wood does the kits from time to time in stainless I believe. I also reinforced the boot floor a bit more than just the little plate. Worth doing whether towing, rallying or not IMHO. Fitted Aeon kit in 1980 when towing Van Rusted out so when rebuilding car fitted kit from Tony Wood. Aeon type , as Tony Wood kit is bolted to swing arm. Reckon it might save too much stress on displacers as well?
