Upon nearly finished project filled float chamber with fuel and started almost straight away. Repeated this several times but no fuel coming through. Removed mechanical pump and lo and behold, no pushrod. I appear to have lost it during rebuild. Has anyone got a rod to sell me? Tony Wood is investigating for me but no luck thus far. Alternatively does anyone know the dimensions of said rod please.

Apologies to all - first class numpty.
Upon managing to take photo of pump location pushrod is in situ.
Just hasn’t pulled any juice through from the tank. Shall put pump back and try again.
Anybody know how long it’s likely to take to pull fuel through?
do I need to prime the pump and fuel lines?
thanks in anticipation.

Can't answer the question directly, Tony. Mine have electric pumps. Why not fill the float chamber to allow the car to run for a minute or so, rather than flogging the battery? Of course, back in the depths of time, mechanical pumps had little toggles to pull on, allowing the pump to be primed manually. These modern cars, I don't know.... Chris.

Thanks chris. Problem now solved by process of elimination. When I rebuilt the car all hoses and pipe work was renewed. I also treated tank with POR-15 inside and out. Going to rear of car and check allflexible connections , found a blockage where I had pushed the flexible on to the new fuel pipe. Checked and cleaned all flexibles , filled float chamber, started her up and happy days. Even ticks over after minor adjustments to carb. When its dry I can get her outside and do ignition and carb tuning.
First time she’s run since 1982!!
i shall now don my sackcloth and ashes
Tony
