And, she's passed. A reading of 120 on both sides and perfect balance seemed to make Roy very happy. I can get on with cutting her up again now! Chris.

She's always had good brakes , and I always give em a going over in the summer which I haven't done this year that and lack of use don't help any motor car. So thanks chris I know she's in good hands.

I suspect that, being a nose-heavy car, the front brakes are really doing all the work. The back ones perhaps just keep it straight! Therefore, they don't get much of a work out?
Chris.

Seconds out - round two... Doors off - eventually. Had to drill the head off one particularly stubborn screw. Up on the stands and some paint is stripped back ready for the great game of "Hunt the Spot Weld". Wing bolts undone and bottom edge cut free. Bracing bars will go on tomorrow before I start cutting seriously. See if I can avoid hitting my head on them this time! I only poked a little bit. There was a large shower of glassfibre and filler. Nice to know what you're up against. Chris.

I've poked it a lot now - mainly with the angle grinder, spot weld drill and a chisel. Sill is mostly off - just a bit at the front which is still defying me. Strange membrane repair. Bit of grot back by the displacer. That lump by the jacking point is mesh, glassfibre and filler and is almost an inch thick! Anyway, nothing too horrible found so far. Floor and inner sill look mostly sound. Front of sill of tomorrow, then I can get the wire wheel on it and see what we've really got. Chris.

Good progress today. All "remains" now chopped out from under the A, B and C post bottoms. Bottom flange largely tidied up. Repair back by the displacer done. Findding spot welds is usually a matter of finding the dimple and drilling thrpough it. Black lines indicate the position of the dimples, as they are up the inside! Sorry remains. Note hole near back. Chopped out, welded and flatted. Extra reinforcement along the bottom edge. Should be good and solid. Chris.

Looking good chris , sorry about that strange repair I was going to try to rebuild it , that's when I thought I'll start looking for some new parts thought it was beyond any repair . Wayne.

Front of inner sill and flange repaired. Upside down plug welding of the flange - mmmmm. Left the panel in the front corner alone. Having poked it, it's a very substantial piece of metal, so just cleaned up the welds a bit. We can get on with some re-assembly next. Chris.

Blow me - it fits. Just got to mark it up and start drilling ready for the plugweldathon. Nit a word? Jolly well ought to be. Chris.

I was right - "nit" wasn't the word. Still.... Top half on. Bottom half on. Closing panel at base of A pillar. Grey stuff is seam sealer. Gunked it on then remembered to photograph it. Closing panel at the rear to do, then some primer, stone chip and underseal and she'll be done. Sunday Wayne? *Waits for ticking off from Snoopy for doing a eight hour day in the garage.* Chris.

I was right - "nit" wasn't the word. Still.... *Waits for ticking off from Snoopy for doing a eight hour day in the garage.* Two points from me. 1. Yes, you are in bother for spending that long there on your own. At least it wasn't heavy lifting. 2. Nit is a word used a hyphenated description of one that spends too long in the garage when on serious medication for a dodgy ticker. Also known as nit-wit. Further described as a silly sod.
