Hi Thanks for accepting me. As a member of your forum. I am Marius Barnard and I do stay in South Africa, and I am the proud owner of an Austin 1800 mark 2. I am the third owner – the previous owner had it for 30 years and have only good memories of the the vehicle. Ten years ago he started restoring the vehicle. Due to certain circumstances he was not able to finish the project. The vehicle was advertised as an uncompleted restoration project. I do not have any experience with the Austin 1800 but I do own a 1980 Mini Clubman and must confess I am in love with British cars. So i started to read about the Austin 1800 and that was enough for me. To by the project. I am busy assembling the vehicle and must say that I am struggling, it is much easier if you took it apart yourself. But bid by bid I am making progress. At this stage I am busy assembling the right front door. But I am struggling with the window regulator and the workshop manual is not rely helping. I saw pictures on the forum and must say that mine look exactly the same after fitting it but when I want to close the window it only move for about 10 cm and then it stuck. So I must take it apart again. Can you please advice me. The easiest way to get the regulator out of the door and to get it back. And maybe some pictures to help with the correct assembling. Greetings Marius Attachments:

Hi Marius Welcome to the forum. Actually the window regulator is one of the most frustrating jobs, so after that everything should be plain sailing I will leave it to Chris to advise on this as he has had recent experience which I think he described as fighting an octopus or something similar. regards David

Welcome aboard, Marius.
I will find some pics of winder mechanisms and try and explain it. It isn't logical in any way that the human brain can comprehend.
Good looking car.
Chris.
