How did it go? Cheers Andrew Hi Andrew sorry for the late reply, yeah everthing was good. Found drivers wheel bearing knocking(probably the only thing i didnt change as it seemed ok at the time). Thats now done, the tune up the garage was meant to have done was crap, so spent last Friday checking everything out, found twin carbs out of balance, one carb not working properly, tickover too high, hence timing being out buy about 5 degrees. All sorted running like a dream now, driving down to Gaydon in Wariclshire on Saturday, 2 hour or so drive all motorway hopefully a proper road test, fingers crossed. Paul

Hi All some of you may have seen these but for those who haven't, the almost finished article, There you go, so rear quarter lights now in, (them rubber hinges are a pain). Small issue with the clutch possible new thrust bearing i spinning in the housing needs further investigation, quite noisey when engaged Small oil leak on the gear cables even after new seal and heat shrink, looks like the heat shrink is allowing oil out, hope fully sorted last night. Small elec issue with NS rear indictor flashing but not bright and when rear lights is on red light flashing(all earth look good), was working before it went to the garage, need investigating. Need to glue in carpet properly Bonnet badge to re fix(last job). Still need , some side glass, front and rear screens ok for now, (grinding spark rash) but hopefully do that further down the line(when i have got some money again) Need to test drive properly but evertything looking good at the moment. See you soon Paul

Judging from the dvla, it looks like a perfect pass A good job, well jobbed! Oh thats good news i never thought of that looking on DVLA, i was expecting a call from the garage but they are a bit slow at getting anything donE, never mind a quick phone call or message Dave i haven't got the old cylinder back yet but when i do i will look into why it failed as it was suppose to have been relined and sealed at quite a price too, but the garage man noticed that the connecting shaft had been previously welded back together and he suggests it wasn't pushing straight, which when i looked at it i agreed it had been welded and his threory may be right, but it worked when i was driving it. Perhaps i put the connecting rod in upside down, i know it shouldn't matter but may be it did. Any way when i get the master cylinder back i will post any findings Regards Paul

Well done, I hope it passes! I've found bleeding the brakes does find any bad /soft seals in the master cylinder, I guess because it is the only time the piston travels the full throw. David Yes but I had it refurbished obviously not that well Paul

Great progress, Paul. Where did you get the vent tubing? He says, having just spent rather more than he wanted to on some which might just do the job.Chris. We use it at work for extract systems more commercial than domestic not than cheap but these are off cuts 100mm dia heading for the bin Paul

Yes I've got a pair of K&N's and at the time was going through my "fastest landcrab in the west phase" so i also got the little stub stacks K&N do which go inside the filters and are supposed to improve airflow etc. www.rimmerbros.co.uk/ItemSearch--search-Stub-Stacks--srcin-1I'm pretty sure it was these filters I got as I wanted them as thin as poss..they weren't that price ! www.moss-europe.co.uk/air-filter-kn-hs6-centre-hole-45mm-kn56-1400a.htmlMost of the time I get stuff direct from K&N now. Am presuming steering wheel was semi dished ? Would you go any smaller or is 15" the one to go for? Thanks for the info re the pool ball - but I'll wait for definite before I start making holes! As I'm sure you're aware you get more of an induction sound when accelerating with the K&N's which you either like or not - on a neutral throttle I find it no diff to standard. Hi Andrew confirmed today gear stick thread is 5/16 bsw Paul

I got these but took them off as too noisy. Hi Did those ones fit next to the brake servo then? are they just pancake filter or KNs? Paul

Hi All Not to my taste that chain steering wheel, i do remember them but too many holes to break fingers in. I am in the garage tomorrow nigth i will fit the steering wheel i have and post some photos. Did those kn filter not foul on the brake servo i don't seem to have that much space, i have ordered some stub stacks should be here tomorrow so i can make a judgement on filters then. I love the sound of the kn filters but as you say not to everyones taste, but the car came with a stainless steel tubular exhaust, now has new 88g MGB cam and the head machined for unleaded with new valve etc. it would be rude not to try and squeeze a few more horses if i can.
I will put some more photo up soon
