Trouble is, I never think I have anything intelligent to say Working on Mrs Faulks, who I fear has found a kindred approach to MrsSocks....

Thanks Keef. I'll look into that.

Excellent stuff. Nice to see the story resurrected so quickly. One query from the other end of this game... If you were starting from scratch would you try to find a warts and all project and know what you were getting into, or do what you did and buy and run a runner until it needed comprehensive rebuilding?

I didn't know that info was available easily. Given the dates, I suspect it didn't go anywhere further than the nearest crusher after the last time I saw it.

Here's my old landcrab, picnicking in the lake district some time in the late 80s. Not sure of its fate after I got rid of it, but I'm guessing its no longer with us given that you could see through the passenger footwell at the end. Attachments:

Oo-err! That's scarily interesting, particularly given its track record on the web. I might have to see how many pennies are still available after Christmas.... January always seems to be one of those months. As for the landcrab's looks, I'd go with the ugly enough to be beautiful take, though I reckon time has made the proportions more commonplace. Its a shame they didn't keep the early pre-styling prototypes though.... they'd have come in handy for confusing new Mini Countryman owners at the moment.

Thanks guys! I'd noticed that the Wolseleys seem to have taken over the world. Is that a badge survival thing, or just what is coming onto the market at the moment? I have an odd partiality for strip speedometers and fins, but I guess it'll be a case of what's about when it comes to the crunch.

Hi all-great to find a landcrab forum. I'm Steve, and I've got to confess that I haven't owned a landcrab for about 20 years. I learnt to drive on a mark 2 Morris 1800 in 1986, then kept it until I couldn't afford to fix it any more. I've missed it and wanted another ever since, and am in the process of convincing the wife that another as a toy/project would be a good idea. I'm working on the idea of 2011 being the year of the landcrab.
