Hello everybody.
I haven't had to use the Admin log-in for a while, but we've had a bit of an update and tidy up.
I've merged a few of the little used boards - Picture Board and Interesting Links - into the Off Topic Board, which is now the General Board. This shortens the homepage somewhat and gives us room to add a Help Needed board. This is to try and help members with specific requirements for help and information to get a response. As usual, the forum has plenty of readers and few posters. I hope that adding this board for specific information will elicit a response amongst you, the members, towards fellow 'Crabbers. If you have an outstanding query which has not been dealt with, please let myself or David know and we'll move it into the Help Needed board for you. Hopefully it will gain a response.
Happy 'Crabbing,
Chris, Penguin45, Admin.

Merged these two threads together - it makes a bit more sense that way. There are three cars with this bearing running (two are mine) and haven't had any issues so far, certainly no noises to be heard!
Chris.

The forum principal address has been changed to www.landcrabforum.co.uk . This has occured in an attempt to raise the profile of the forum and to make us easier to find on Google and the other internet search engines. For those of you with landcrabforum.proboards.com saved in your favourites, nothing has changed and you will still come straight here, although the new address will show in the address bar at the top of your page. This will not go out of date or become obsolete. Thank you for your continuing support - please carry on. Chris, Admin.

Not sure how much direct relevance this has to our site, as we do not have monetary facilities onboard (Unless you lot are doing PayPal by the PM system....), but the overall issue has some pretty serious implications. BBC NEWS - HEARTBLEED BUG. We are advised to change passwords at our earliest opportunity, even if on a "just in case" basis. You can change your password on this site by accessing Profile -> Edit -> Pesonal. Don't forget to hit "Save" when you're done. Hopefully this is a mares nest as far as this site is concerned, if you do encounter any issues, please advise soonest. Chris, Admin.

The previous post was by Richard, the founder and original administrator of the Landcrabs and Maxi Forum. Due to the particular vagaries of the Proboards system, it is impossible to create a new Admin account without creating a new forum (!), so I now have two accounts on here. Hopefully, it will not prove necessary to use this one much for posting - I will continue with Penguin45 as much as is reasonably possible.
No doubt you will have noticed the changes to the forum recently. The obvious one is the change in colour scheme, I hope it meets with approval. The forum was rather unexpectedly upgraded to Version 5 and the default looked ghastly. After a rather major initial flap, we do now have a well functioning forum again. There have been a few changes, most of which will not affect members using the site. If anything, it is simpler to use.
Some of the more obvious differences are that the default print size has increased (easier to read), recent posts are highlighted in RED, slightly older ones are in BLUE. We have lost the "Last 10 Posts" display, although there is a clickable option down at the bottom. The attachment system now works simply and easily, although linking via a hosting site is preferable, please. YouTube videos will now self-embed from the link, so no faffing about trying to get the code right. Flags pop up for private messages, so you'll see them straightaway.
Guests can now read the forum as before, but must register in order to post. Please do, Mr. Guest.
There are some extra smilies added for your amusement, as well as some default avatars to replace the grey baldy pointy headed men.
As before, bear in mind that this is a car forum. There are plenty of places to go and do politics, religion and other topics likely to cause conflict.
Any problems, PM to Admin for assistance.
Enjoy,
Chris, Penguin45, Admin.

I'd just like to say thank you everyone for your kind words, good to see the forum seems to be going from strength to strength. Also I'm very impressed with the changes Chris has made to the forum, and I'm sure he'll make a great job of running it All the best, Richard.

Hi Chris,
I haven't been on for ages, but good to see Eugenie getting some well-deserved attention! The clutch on these engines looks a major headache, wouldn't fancy doing one myself.

Welcome! I'm only 20, so you're not alone.
Good luck with your search. I had my first car at 15, so little things like not being old enough to drive didn't stop me!
Richard.

Sadly I've got to thin down my fleet of cars and something's got to give 1971 Wolseley 18/85 (Tax exempt) Automatic, in Limeflower. Very good condition, one previous owner and always kept garaged. Supplied new by SMAC's of Essex. Approx. 64,000 miles. I bought this back in November and since then I've hardly used it but have spent loads! The power steering didn't work so I bought a new rack at a cost of nearly £400! (gulp) and had it fitted by a local garage. The PAS now works though. The dynamo has been rebuilt (thanks again Chris!) and I've just fitted a reconditioned starter motor as it had an irritating problem where the starter would disengage after a couple of spins, now it starts well. I've also fitted a new battery, air filter and a nice little oil pressure gauge (which shows good readings) as the original didn't work. I've also had a new tyre fitted and the front tracking done. She now sports three newish Falcons and a Firestone, all with loads of tread. It drives very well indeed, the autobox changes nicely and the kickdown works, all as you'd expect really. Bodywise it is very good and I would describe it as one of the best original 18/85's out there. It has been waxoyled from new and this seems to have protected it from the dreaded tinworm. There are a few minor imperfections such as several stone chips on the front panel which have been touched in and the odd small bit of crazing here and there. Both front wings have been resprayed before and the colour match is decent, but not perfect. The interior is hard to fault really, it's all original and in excellent condition really, the original headlining is mint. There is a very small split in the passenger seat and a small amount of wear on the front carpet but it's not terrible. It's MOT'd until the 25th November (went through the last one with no advisories) and comes with quite a lot of history, the original RAC membership pack, most tax discs from new including the very first one, and a handwritten record of work done on the car spanning 20 years. Anyone interested? It's in Southend SS3 postcode, and I'm after £1600 for it. Some pictures:

This is a rather lovely original thing: Seems like Landcrabs were quite popular in Sweden when they were new then?

By the way, your status is showing up as "Guest" on your last post but as "Member" in the earlier ones. Not sure I understand that quirk, maybe Richard can have a look? Regards David Hi David, I'm not sure about this one, very strange! I'll take a look through the settings. Richard.

There is an Austin 2200 parked in the corner of a yard on the Lychgate Industrial Estate just before the A130 slip road on the A127 in Rayleigh, Essex. Looks complete, but has obviously been there for a long, long time.
