I'm in need of a pair of hand grab rails that mount above the door on either side of the rear doors. I need the grab pieces as well as the mounting plinthes and screws. Please ley me know of any sources or if anyone has some they'd like to part with.

I have no problem with shipping for them as they couldn't be that much. I also have just realized my drivers door latch is non functional. It wasn't unlocking and I discovered it had been modified and all bent to make work. I disassembled it and found screws in it instead of rivets. I'm going to trey to repair it but I think I need a replacement part for it. Anyone have a left side door latch? I believe I can make a rear door latch work as well. This is the right side for reference

I found a couple of grab bars, but I'm missing one of the chrome covers on the end. Does anyone have one I could get? I'll gladly pay for shipping and whatever you'd want for it.

I think I may have what you need and also the door lock if still needed. Shipping to the USA should not be a problem. I will have a look in my spares stack tonight.
Regards,
Alexander

I picked up a door lock, but it's the rear door with a child lock on it and would prefer for safety reasons, to have the proper front lock. Let me know what you need for the parts. Thanks

Did you ever check your stack of spares for the parts needed?

Oops, sorry - I tried to find them in a hurry before we left for half-term hols. Now I am back and will find them. My brother is living in the US and will be visiting us here in Europe. If it is small parts like the grab handle bits and a front door lock I can ask him to bring them to the US and post them from there. Where about are you located?
Regards,
Alexander

I'm in the North West, about 30 miles south of Seattle. Tacoma WA. I don't want to trouble anyone, I could gladly pay you for shipping if that is easier.

Hi Charly, a lengthy search - sorry about that. I have a 2nd hand RH front door lock (all my new ones are LH!) and found only one grab handle with the chrome covers. I was sure I had at least 3, but was unable to find more than 1. Anyway, here they are: Regards, Alexander

Alexander, The door latch I need is a LH side(drivers side in the USA). I would like to at least have the chrome pieces from the grab handle, but will buy it complete if you like. I'm also looking for a dashboard clock if you have one or know of one anywhere. I would be interested in a new door latch if you'd like to let go of it. Let me know how to proceed from here for posting and payment.

Ah, I thought your car was RHD because the picture above shows the RH door... You can of course have the new one, I will just have to check if the box contains what is written on it.
I will have to look up how much postage would be, you could pay me using PayPal if you like. The parcel may end up cheaper with just the chrome bits of the grab handle - I will look into that!

Alexander

I'll go which ever way you'd like. Did the Austins have a clock in the dashboard? I'd like to put one in the hole if possible. I have one from a XJ6, but its to big.

I know that there was often a clock pictured in the brochures, but the clock was never fitted from the factory. And back in the early 70s, when my father was trying to find one, he was unable to find one actually fitting the hole. In the end he bought one (maybe for and XJ6) at a BL dealer (new!), ditched the chrome frame and fabricated his own narrower frame from silver painted card board, so that the frame would sit between the upper and lower strips like the speedo. Personally I think that there was never a clock to properly fill that hole.

Alexander
