www.flickr.com/search/?q=wolseley&s=recNot sure what the rules are with other peoples pictures on Flickr so I haven't copied the picture in here but if you follow the link you should see what I am looking at. There are three pictures a blue 18/85. It was on eBay last year just before I bought my car, I even placed a bid but didn't want to go too far on an auto, preferring a manual. Anyway, what is that dark patch underneath the front and are those cones a coincidence. Is the car in trouble? I hope not as it looks like a nice car. What do you think? Nick Probably need to follow the link in the next day or so as my search on Flickr was 'Wolseley' and then I selected 'recent' PS - not happy about the rust bucket comment after one of the pictures

THIS ONE should go straight to the picture with the comments. Is it really unfair comment? Most 60s/70s cars rusted like mad as it was very early days as far as rust protection went. I think we clocked this one when it was up for sale - got a Six grill on the front. Looks like a big stain of coolant or oil underneath. Chris.

Amazing!! Nick your link took me to the page where I saw DFD702K a Wolseley 18/85 manual which I owned from around 1974/5 to 1979. It looks as good as the day I sold it. HERERegards David

Not sure what the rules are with other peoples pictures on Flickr They provide a way of acknowledging the owner in their links. Go to Other ways to share copy and paste the code and Bob's yer uncle. Wolseley by My-Trusty-Instamatic, on Flickr

HERERegards David Doesn't look so great now unfortunately.. Incidentally, do you know what that mast thing is on the front wing? Best I can come up with is a pennant mast.

Hi Rosie,
Welcome aboard. Dave1800 should be able to tell you a bit more about the car as a PO. I have seen it a few LOCI events over the years and the then PO thought as you do that the front mast was a pennant holder. Perhaps a military past? They were used as staff cars back in the day.
Chris.

That's odd. The car was sold at auction a few years back and decribed as an ex-MOD vehicle, which was cetainly untrue. I purchased it at three years of age from the original owner who lived close to the BMC/BL agwnt that first registered the vehicle. There was no sign of the front mast during my ownership. Congratulations on being the new owner (I think!) I used the car as a daily driver. The paintwork was apalling from new, cats claws would scratch through to the primer when they jumped on the roof and although there was a very high gloss the top coat and primer were incredibly brittle. The quality of the steel generally was way poorer that any other crab I have owned. It served it's purpose I was driving typically around 100 miles per day during my ownership and never let me down, starting instantly hot or cold and would hold 70+ mph all day long. When I sold it te interior was immaculate totally unmarked and the radio and clock both worked! It also had fully functioning PAS which I understand from the previous owner had been removed.
