That's exactly what my crab is, though I can't tell if I have leather or vinyl seats? Andrew What you need here is a really good, hot sunny day and a pair of shorts. Allow car to bake in the sunshine for several hours, then get in. If you think that the seats are going to burn the back of your thighs off, or you think that you are stuck to the seats, you have a vinyl interior. Leather doesn't do that. Oh, and there is a certain unique, slightly plasticky odour as well, which many British kids will remember from the 60's and 70's all too well.......... Chris.

Wouldn't be any fun if it was easy Chris What are the tell tale signs of it formally being an Auto? apart from the big hole in the dash? And regarding the seats.......they're vinyl then lol, I recall last summer burning the backs of my legs on the damn things! -Andrew

the odds on finding the correct door cards is very low You looking for some different ones then Chris? I've got the set off the 18/85 S that you are welcome to, if you want them? They are a bit tatty, but if you fitted new backing boards they'd clean up a treat.

Oooooh - it would be interesting to fit the "hook" type chrome handles, don't you think?
Chris.

The chrome ones look pretty classy But saying that I'm more than happy with my 'cheapo' flat ones. Nice and out of the way. With the door cards, can one remove the material off the old card and redo them? because mine are ok, but some of the card is kinda getting on a bit. Don't wanna lose my 'rare' Mk. I door cards! -Andrew

can one remove the material off the old card and redo them? This is quite a popular job. The "cardboard" is often replaced by a thin ply or similar.

I never noticed that post, Indy.
I did mine in the original rebuild thread a couple of years ago. Tease out the staples and use the original baseboard as a pattern. I used hardboard; thin ply would be a better long term bet.
Chris.

Cheers lads Might put that on my short term list of things to do. Also, are the 'clip' things easy to get a hold of? -Andrew
