And after a short (but intense) breeding programme. Bonnet buffers by Penguin 45, on Flickr Little bit of flash to be trimmed off, otherwise fine. C.

How much of the metal work have you machined yourself?

I've made everything - plugs, moulds, press tools, hammer forms and all the bracketry. Morris bump stops by Penguin 45, on Flickr Twenty sets awaiting a quick de-flash and a lick of paint. Chris.

That's amazing, Chris. I imagine it must have taken a considerable amount of time to achieve. David I've made everything - plugs, moulds, press tools, hammer forms and all the bracketry. Morris bump stops by Penguin 45, on Flickr Twenty sets awaiting a quick de-flash and a lick of paint. Chris.

Latest fing. Steady Bar by Penguin 45, on Flickr Lower engine stabiliser bar. I want another one and Tony Wood hasn't got any. It's also a deeply flawed bit of design. It looks like a turnbuckle, but if you look carefully, both end sections are a right hand thread. Therefore, to adjust it, you have to dismount at least one end, which is d@mned awkward. Steady Bar by Penguin 45, on Flickr Lathe and chop saw to the rescue and enough components rattled up to make ten bars. Well, I want one, Tony wants a few and I might as well try and make some money on eBay... Left handed threaded bits in one container and right handed threaded bits in the other. Tapping left hand threads is definitely an unnatural act. More when the welding's done. Chris.

They look good Chris. Despite being left handed I still find left hand threads unnatural. David And just to finish this one off: Steady Bar by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bushes and distance tubes fitted. C.

The twin lower arm bushes for the early cars are now available in sets of four from Tony Wood. David used to love these (not), so hopefully being polyurethane they'll last rather longer. Bushes and bumps by Penguin 45, on Flickr Sent them all off to Tony before the pics got taken.... Acting on information received from our own Jeff, the early rear bump stops have been fabricated as well. Bushes and bumps by Penguin 45, on Flickr These'll go to Tony for approval, as I gather that there are few originals left now. Chris.

At last! All the hard work with the polyurethane bushes has paid off and allowed me to buy a milling machine. It was local (unheard of), reasonably priced (unheard of) and disgusting (expected). I give you: Clarke CMD300 Mill by Penguin 45, on Flickr The Clarke CMD300. This is a Sieg X2 with the Clarke badge on it, so sold by Machine Mart no doubt. It's probably had more love in the past two hours than it's had in the last fifteen years. It's filthy dirty and absolutely caked in sticky swarf, so all that's happened so far is a quick wipe down and getting the Y axis set up properly. There is some cosmetic damage, as well a few knobs and handles which need replacing/reviving and there will almost certainly be paint. So, it'll be a little while before she goes to work properly. Chris.

I'm glad to see the lower arm bushes made you happy and profit. The thought of them still give me nightmares You next task should be to modify the milling machine and replace those handles with stepper motors and connect them to your computer so you have your very own cnc machine - (or maybe not!)
